Foristell Chamber of Commerce Minutes
Regular Meeting March 2, 2010

PRESENT: Mark Van Dillen, Larry Shroth, Wanda Donnelly, John Pickering, Sandy Stokes, Marvin Rodenbaugh, Laura McLane, Nancy Hance, Ken Orf, Jackie Stewart, Jackie King, Carol Powelson, Matt Vehige, Ray Alexander, Peggy Alexander, Harry Kishpaugh, Robert Barclay, Charlene Twiehaus, Allen Rone, Phil Reid, Michelle Smith, Chris Gaines, Jack Sanford

Guests: Charlie Denn, former Editor of the Warren County Record Bonita Loness, Jungermann Realty

Harry Kishpaugh gave the blessing and lunch was served.

President Marvin Rodenbaugh called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. and welcomed the members and guests. Those in attendance introduced themselves and who they are representing.

Minutes:
The minutes of the February 2, 2010, meeting had been distributed prior to lunch. President Marvin asked for any additions or corrections to the minutes. Being none, a motion was made by Ken Orf and seconded by Larry Shroth to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report:
Treasurer Nancy Hance presented the Treasurer’s Report. The current account balance is $4,351.90. A motion was made by Larry Shroth and seconded by Ken Orf to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried. The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Jack Sanford. Jack split a pot of $12 with the Chamber. Robert Barclay, Brickkicker Property Inspections won the drawing for Business of the Month to be featured on the Chamber website. Peggy Alexander won a pie donated by Jackie Stewart of Interstate Subs.

City Report:
Sandy Stokes reported that a new pizza and pasta restaurant expects to be open in mid April where CJ’s Pizza had been. There will be a bond issue for sewer improvements on the April 6th ballot. The mayor’s from St Charles County will hold the annual “All Mayors’ Charity Ball”. Each city donates a gift basket for a silent auction. It was asked that the Chamber make a donation for the City of Foristell basket. . A motion was made by Larry Shroth and seconded by Ken Orf to donate $100. Motion carried.

School District Reports:
Chris Gaines, Superintendent of Wright City School District, said that they are approximately eleven weeks behind on the athletic complex but work was being done today. The district will be hosting a series of Town Hall Meetings to discuss scenarios for reductions to present to the Board. The district is still looking at growth and a 1.4 million dollar bond issue will be on the ballot April 6th to buy 85 acres on the south side of town for a new high school.

Program:
President Marvin introduced our guest speaker, R J Runge, DC. Dr. Runge’s presentation was about Getting a Grip on Stress. As time goes on, the effects of stress often worsen and begin interfering with not only a person’s health but their well being in general. Many of today’s health related problems are stress induced and there are many things we can do to help reduce problems caused by stress. Dr. Runge pointed out that is important to tackle stress early. The first step in managing stress is to identify the main stressors in your life. Proper exercise, rest and nutrition are also key elements in reducing stress levels and creating a more balanced life.

New Business:
Larry Shroth announced that the League of Chambers day at Jefferson City would be March 30, 2010. Meetings with legislators would be from 9:00 – 12:00. As this is designed to meet with representatives from St Charles County, it was suggested by John Pickering that we look into meeting with representatives from Warren County also. Everyone is responsible for their own transportation. We will try and forward any information that comes available.

Announcements:
Marvin Rodenbaugh announced the Small Business Monthly Expo at St Charles Convention Center on March 18, 2010.

Larry Shroth offered congratulations to Phil Reid who received the 2009 Volunteer of the Year from Wright City Chamber of Commerce and to Interstate Subs on their ribbon cutting. Both were featured in the local newspaper.

There be no other business, a motion was made by Larry Shroth and seconded by Allen Rone to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 12:45 pm.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
