GUESTS: Michele Reigh-Principal of the new Wright
City East Elementary School,
Reverend Jeff Winters-Pastor of the Church of Christ at Foristell.
Lunch: Reverend Jeff Winters blessed the
food before we ate.
Secretary Ray opened the meeting at 12:05 p.m. and welcomed members
and guests as President Larry was detained at a previous meeting.
Each introduced them self and told who they represent. Larry arrived
and presided over the meeting.
Minutes: June 2, 2009 – Approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer Nancy Hance presented the Treasurer’s Report. The
current balance in the treasury is $3,747.72. Our 50/50 drawing
today was won by Peggy Alexander. She split a pot of $34.00 with
the Chamber. Allen Rone won the 50/50 drawing for Business of the
Month to be featured on the Chamber web site for August. Congratulations
to the winners. We did not have a 50/50 drawing for an EDC Seminar
this month since there were no tickets available through Ameren,
who has donated them in the past. Hopefully, there we will be one
available next month.
City Update:
Mayor Wanda Donnelly said that there is not a lot
of activity at the present time. The City has been involved in repairing
roads, particularly the entrances to driveways off the roads. Water
District #2 will begin painting the water tower soon.
Program:
Our speaker today was member Matt Vehige who gave an informative
presentation on the services that Primerica, the company that he
represents, offers in the way of life insurance, debt management
and financial planning.
.
Current Business:
John Pickering asked President Larry about a Bill that the State
is considering about Greening in Missouri. Larry is a Customer Service
Representative for Ameren. He said that the Bill is geared toward
trying to control the use of electricity. Missouri has the lowest
costs in the nation for electric service. The Utilities are trying
to keep furnishing electricity without going out of State to get
it, where the costs are higher. Larry said that alternate ways of
producing electric are currently being used by all the major Utilities.
School District’s Reports:
District Superintendent of the Wright City Schools Chris Gaines
reported that they are very busy getting ready for the new school
year. Classrooms are being cleaned, auditors are coming and the
new East Elementary School will be opening on August 10th. We were
glad to have the new East School Principal, Michele Reigh, with
us today.
There was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
Our next meeting will be held on August 4, 2009. The program will
be a presentation by a Representative from the Wentzville Fire Department
on the “The Pink is Coming” which is a Families Fighting
Cancer Benefit Program..
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
