Treasurer’s Report: Chris Daleo reported
that there is $2,876.07 in the treasury at the present time.
Program:Senator Scott Rupp was our guest speaker.
Senator Rupp had served as a Missouri State Representative prior
to his taking over the un-expired term of Senator Jon Dolan. He
represents West St. Charles County and Lincoln County. He gave a
very interesting and informative program. His presentation explained
the Bills and actions that the State Legislature has worked on during
the past year. The items covered were Social Services, Higher Education
Funding, State Budget Reform, Medicaid Budget Reform, Upgrading
Abortion Clinics to full Medical Facilities, Social Security Tax
Reform, the Castle Doctrine, the Katrina Bill, State Sanctioning
and Licensing of Title Insurance Companies, and the First Step Program
on Childhood Autism. The Senate will be back in session in January
2008. They will hold Public Hearings on the Budget as one of their
goals.
Old Business: Nancy Hance, Chairperson of the Ribbon
Cutting Committee, passed around the crimper for making our Chamber
Seals. She also had a couple of sample seals for us to examine.
They look very good. She will now purchase the ribbon. Soon we will
be able to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies. Thanks to Nancy for all
of her work.
City Update: Sandy Stokes reported that plans for
the Safety Fair are going well. She asked that we do not park on
the City Hall Parking Lot during the Fair as there will not be room
because of the various booths and the area needs to be open for
the attendees to have room to move around. Parking is available
on the Mittler Brothers Race Car Lot, the Antique Store Lot, and
on the side streets. There will be a golf cart furnished to transport
people to the City Hall.
The Missouri Bank has broken ground. Fast Lane has a sign. There
is a lot of interest in the Foristell Area, both residential and
commercial. Plans for the new Wright City School at Cotton Road
and the North Service Road are being approved.
School District Update: Mike O’Connell,
Chief Finance Officer of the Wentzville School District reported
that the enrollment of the District is 11,150 students this year,
which is up 650 students over last year. The District plans to get
committees of parents together to see where the District wants to
go.
Other Business: Secretary Ray reminded the
members about volunteering to work at the Chamber’s Bar-B-Q
booth at the Safety Fair. He passed around the sign up sheet in
case anyone else wanted to help.
There was no other business. Meeting Adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
Our next regular meeting will be held on November 6, 2007 at 12:00
noon at Porlier Outdoor Advertising Co.
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
