Minutes: April
3, 2007 – Approved as printed.
Treasurer's Report:
Chris Daleo reported that she has received money for several memberships.
She has paid Costco for the tables and chairs that we are using
today. The cost was $875.00 that includes sale tax. She has filed
for our tax exempt status, but it has not been received as yet.
We will receive a credit from Costco for $61.00 when we become tax
exempt. Thanks to Marvin Rodenbaugh for working out the particulars
for the purchase. The Current balance in the treasury is $3,000.00.
City Update:
Sandy Stokes reported that the land on the southeast corner of Highway
T and the South Service Road has to be divided into three lots.
This is where the Fast Lane Convenience Store and Gas Station, and
the Missouri Bank are to be located. The City has been receiving
inquires from people stopping in about building single family homes.
There will be a Public Hearing Meeting held on June 6th with the
Duckett Creek people on user fees.
Old Business:
Nancy Hance reported that she has received Ribbon Cutting information
from Eric Pittman of Pittman Funeral Homes. He is the President
of the Warrenton Chamber. He gave her quite a bit of information
on Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies. She has been checking on ribbon and
it can be quite expensive if we want to have any lettering on it.
Sandy Stokes gave her a sample of the seal that the City uses. If
we have a seal made for the Chamber, we could stamp plain ribbon
with our logo, and include a piece of it in the frame along with
Chamber Membership Declaration. Pat Wenom gave us some samples of
logos that Porlier’s graphic designer has made up for our
approval. Tim Nash will make some copies of these for the membership
to review at the June meeting. We need to decide on the color of
the ribbon that we want to represent the Chamber. We will need ceremonial
scissors, and a clip on bow that can be removed and reused for each
ribbon cutting. Nancy suggested that once we decide on colors, logos,
etc, that we start putting sample frames together so we can get
an idea of how the finished product will appear. We should get a
jump on getting things in place, and schedule a couple of trial
runs with any business that has opened recently in the area.
Current Business:
This was our first meeting at Porlier Outdoor Advertising’s
office. We want to thank Pat Wenom and Brent Porlier for the use
of the facility. It is an ideal place with the large meeting room
and the well equipped kitchen. Thanks to Marvin Rodenbough for getting
the tables and chairs, and delivering them and helping set them
up. Thanks also to Chris Goatley from C.J.’s Pizza for catering
our meeting. The food was delicious.
New Business:
Larry Shroth will take office as President of the League of Chambers
on June 1st. Congratulations Larry. He announced that the League
will hold their Picnic After Hours on Tuesday July 17th at the Old
Town Park in St. Peters. He also informed us that there will be
an Employer Information Seminar on Workplace Violence to be held
at the Stegton Regency Banquet Center in St. Charles on Thursday
May 10th. Breakfast will be served. The Seminar will be sponsored
by the St. Charles County League of Chambers, the St. Charles County
Missouri Employer Committee, and the Workforce Investment Board
and MEC. The cost per person is $30.00 for the breakfast buffet
and seminar. Contact Larry for more information on both of these
activities. You can reach him at 636-639-8211
Program:
Our guest speaker today was Mike Dougherty from Alliance/Water
District #2. He gave a very informative presentation. The District
is in partnership with Tom Johnson Development for the subdivision
at the corner of Cotton Road and the North Service Road. This is
also the location of the Wright City School’s new Administration
Building, and new Elementary School. District #2 is constructing
a large deep well, and a membrane sewer treatment plant in the area
of the subdivision. The water system should be operational by August
1st. It will be capable of producing 800 gallons of water per minute.
The waste treatment plant will follow. It will be built to accommodate
2,000 homes. Initially it will it will handle 1,000 homes. Long
range it will be capable of servicing 4,000 homes. Tom Johnson plans
to start construction of homes in July of this year. District #2
may hook up water to Wright City back from Foristell. They have
decided not to furnish water on the south side of Highway 70. They
cannot fund both sides. They will charge a $4,000 surcharge for
each new home to cover tap on fees until the debt for the facilities
are satisfied and the number of homes increase to reduce the fee.
The question was asked about the difference of financing the water
and sewage treatment facilities between Water District #2 and Duckett
Creek. Water District #2 believes that having the tap on fees paid
up front allows the home buyers the opportunity to include them
in their mortgage. Duckett Creek charges half the tap on fee up
front, and the other half added to the buyer’s monthly bill.
There
was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
Our next regular meeting will
be held on June 5, 2007 at 12:00 Noon at Porlier Outdoor Advertising
Co.
Our Guest Speaker will be Senator Scott Rupp
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
