This was the first Chamber meeting for the new Mayor of Foristell,
Wanda Donnelly.
Introductions around the table.
Minutes: May 1, 2007 – Approved
as printed.
Treasurer’s Report:
Chris Daleo reported that there is $2,888.00 in the treasury at
the present time. She is having a problem getting tax-exempt status
for the Chamber from the State. They are nit picking the information
that she has sent them. She has to send additional information on
charitable donations.
Program:
Robert Barclay from the Brickkicker Property Inspection Company
gave a very interesting and informative presentation. Robert is
a Chamber member. He is a certified professional Building Inspector,
and is the Building Commissioner for the City of Foristell. Brickkicker
is a national franchise. They have 78 offices across the USA. The
home inspection that they offer covers the structural system, the
central heating and cooling system, the electrical system, the plumbing
system, water penetration, gas leak detection, and interior and
exterior surfaces. Robert’s primary customers are Foristell,
Incline Village, Innsbrook, and Lake Sherwood. He approved Tom Johnson’s
Providence Manor at Cotton Road and the North Service Road. He said
that they are on track. There may start construction by the end
of the year. The M.B.R. plant is under construction. Construction
of the water tank is almost completed. Clearing of the rock and
debris has begun on the corner of Highway T and the South Service
Road where the Fast Lane Convenience Store/ Gas Station/Car Wash,
and The Missouri Bank will be constructed. The MBR plant for the
Liberty Project has not started as yet. There is no progress on
McBride’s Liberty Valley Project. When the various projects
get started, Robert will be a busy man. Thank you Robert for putting
your program together on short notice.
City Update:
Sandy Stokes reported that the City has been working with MODOT
on the traffic light timing situation on Highway W at the North
and South Service Roads, and the ramps to Highway 70. The City is
also trying to remedy the dips on south Highway T at the bridge
over Peruque Creek. There are areas in the asphalt that have been
cut out to allow for adhesion of the new asphalt when the road is
resurfaced in the near future. In the meantime the dips are rough
and causing problems.
There will be a Public Hearing at City Hall tomorrow night to discuss
tap on fees for the sewer system.
School Report:
Dr. Mark Porter, District Superintendent of the Wright City Schools
reported that the new Central Office is nearing completion. They
plan to move in the facility in July. They plan to be in the new
elementary school in January 2008. They are making sure that the
boundaries where the future students live are correct. It is a $12,000,000
facility. There are 700 students enrolled in Summer School. The
School District has received the top rating achievable from the
State. “Congratulations.”
Old Business:
There was discussion on choosing a logo for the
Chamber from those that were designed by Porlier’s Graphic
Designer. We approved one. Now Nancy Hance and her Ribbon Cutting
Committee will be able to get information on developing a seal for
stamping the ribbon, and to choose a color for the ribbon. A big
thank you to Porlier’s designer for the creative work that
she did in developing the logo, and to Porlier for letting her use
her time to design it. Secretary Ray will send a thank you note.
Current Business:
We discussed lunch meal charges. There are occasions when members
have committed to attending a meeting, but for some reason do not
attend. Since we have to pay the caterer for each meal, the Chamber
is left paying for the meals that been committed even if members
do not attend. The Chamber had to pay $40.00 last month.
The membership voted that a member that commits to attending a meeting,
but does not attend, is responsible to pay for the cost of the lunch
and be billed for it.
New Business
We discussed the possibility of not meeting during July and August.
It was decided not to meet in July because our meeting date is the
day before the July 4th holiday. We did, however, vote to have a
meeting in August. Sandy Stokes and Wanda Donnelly will get together
and work on some ideas about a potential program that the City and
the Chamber might sponsor together for the community in the fall,
possibly Founders Day. The August meeting will give us a chance
to talk about their ideas. Secretary Ray has a potential speaker
for the meeting.
There was no other business. Meeting adjourned at
1:00 p.m.
Our next regular meeting will be held on August 7,
2007 at 12:00 noon at Porlier Outdoor Advertising Co.
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
