Introductions around the table.
Minutes: March
7, 2007 – Approved as printed.
Treasurer's Report:
Chris Daleo reported that she has received money for several memberships.
The Current balance in the treasury is $3,918.00
City Update:
Sandy Stokes reported that footings are to be poured for the Fast
Lane Convenience Store and Gas Station in late June. The Missouri
Bank has been approved by the Planning and Zoning Committee to build
next to the Fast Lane. The developers are waiting for the waste
treatment plant to be constructed on the south side of Highway 70.
DNR has approved plans for Water District #2 to start construction
of their waste treatment facility on the north side of Highway 70.
The City receives inquiries from various builders all the time,
but is not rushing into things. They are making sure that development
doesn’t happen too quickly, and that growth is controlled.
The City has a new Police Chief. His name is Doug Johnson. They
also have a new patrol car to replace the one that was totaled.
MOdot is trying to regulate the traffic lights on the overpass and
the north service road. There are two people running for Mayor in
today’s election. They are Wanda Donnelly and Les Cissell.
Aldermen will also be elected. There will be annexation of several
roads off of Highway T. A sign company is interested in leasing
a building on Highway T in Foristell. A Home Decor and Antique Store
plans to open in the old Golden Travel Building.
Old Business:
Nancy Hance reported that the Ribbon Cutting committee has contacted
a couple of places about purchasing ribbon. It appears that we will
have to purchase 4 to 6 rolls that will cost $400.00 to $500.00.
Ray Alexander suggested waiting to buy ribbons until we can put
our Chamber logo on them. The graphic designer from Porlier Outdoor
Advertising is going to come up with some ideas for a logo when
she has the time.
We discussed the Safety Break. Sandy Stokes said that the City might
be able to plan a project in conjunction with the Chamber to involve
a Safety Program for residents. The Fire Department could possibly
put on a Fire Safety Program. There could be an Emergency Planning
Program to cover a disaster in the Foristell area. The goal this
year would be to concentrate on safety for the Foristell Community,
instead of offering a Safety Break for travelers. We voted to cancel
the Safety Break for travelers this year, which is usually held
on the July 4th weekend, and to hold the Community Safety Program
later in the year, possibly in the fall.
New Business:
Porlier Outdoor Advertising has offered their office for our meetings,
but we will have to furnish our own tables and chairs. Marvin Rodenbaugh
from Costco gave us a price of $42.99 for a 6-foot foam core type
table, and $19.99 for a folding chair. Ken Orf made a motion to
purchase 5 tables and 30 chairs. Chris Daleo seconded the motion.
We voted to purchase them. Pat Wenom from Porlier was not at the
meeting today. Ray Alexander will contact her and let her know that
we have decided to purchase the tables and chairs, and plan to use
their office for our May 1st. meeting. Marvin volunteered to deliver
the tables and chairs. Secretary Ray will notify the members of
our new meeting location. Chris Goatley and her crew at C.J.’s
Pizza did an excellent job of feeding us today, and the food was
delicious. She has agreed to cater our lunch at Porlier on May 1st.
Program:
Trevor Rees, who is the Information Resource Manager of
Business Services and Public Management for the St. Charles City/County
Library District, gave a very interesting and informative presentation.
There is a multitude of resources that are available to St. Charles
County residents, and businesses at no charge. All they need is
a Library Card, which is free. Non-residents can obtain a card for
$80.00, which is very reasonably priced considering all the resources
that are available. Cards are needed to obtain library materials,
use library computers, and access databases remotely. Cards are
not needed to use materials within the library, or to meet with
subject specialists. There are twelve library locations throughout
the St. Charles area. There are three Regional Branches, four General
Purpose Branches, three Mini-Branches, and two Library Express locations.
Trevor can be reached at the Spencer Road Branch for any information
needed. His telephone number is 636-441-0794, extension 1444.
There
was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
Our next regular meeting will
be held on May 1, 2007 at 12:00 noon at Porlier Outdoor Advertising
Co.
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
