New
Business:
City Report: Keith Nelson reported that the City of Foristell has
annexed 232 acres on Schaper Road. There are a couple of developers
interested in the property. The location for the new waste treatment
plant has been moved from Highway T south of Foristell to Schaper
Road at the bridge. Duckett Creek will service the plant. Projected
time for the plant to be on line to service the main branch of the
sewer system is approximately a year from now. If anyone is interested
in touring a similar waste treatment facility you can contact Tom
Engle at Duckett Creek. There is a new plant located at Highways
94 and D.
Foristell actually has another sewer system on the north side of
Highway 70 at McCoy Creek. It will be serviced by Water District
#2. The Tom Johnson Development on Cotton Road will use this treatment
facility.
There are 3 Developers that are willing to pay for the new highway
overpass at Foristell. K.C, Land Development is working with the
City now and has eliminated some housing units to allow for more
green space areas. There was approval on Monday night at the Planning
and Zoning meeting for them to start their project.
Program:
Chris McAmis, Vice President of the Chamber, is also our web site
designer. His company is Tracker Design. He gave an informative
presentation about our web site. All current members should listed
on the sight. If you find that you are not listed, call Chris at
636 322-0348 or E-mail him at sales@trackerdesigns.com.
You can also call Ray Alexander, our Secretary, at 636-745-3276
or E-mail him at rcalexander@century.com
and he will make sure Chris gets the information. Our Chamber address
is www.foristellchamber.com. There is an
overview of benefits in being a member of the Chamber on the site.
One of those is a free link to a member’s web site from the
Chamber’s web site. Chris will design a web site for you at
a reasonable price if you do not have one. There is currently no
link to the City of Foristell, but the City is working on a site
now. There is one for Keith Nelson, the City Administrator at cityofforistell.org.
Other
Business:
Larry Shroth reported on the St. Charles Vision Leadership Program.
It is a 9-month program and is sponsored in part by the St. Charles
League of Chambers. It requires participation in once a month sessions
on county and city governments. It provides an opportunity for someone
interested in getting involved in community affairs to meet the
people that are running the local governments on a more personal
basis. One of the highlights of the program is a Day at the Capitol
in Jefferson City meeting with government officials including Breakfast
with the Governor. Each Chamber in the League donates $350.00 to
help defray the cost of the Breakfast and receives a promotional
spot. Larry has been through the program and has found it very helpful
in being able to contact local politicians and administrators. He
said that it is a very educational program. The cost is $600.00
per person.
The
program requires full participation. A person must make all the
training sessions. There are scholarships available through some
businesses. Contact visionleadrship.org if you are interested
in joining the program or talk to Larry for more information. Applications
are being accepted now. Maybe our Chamber would be
interested in sending someone. The Vision program is coordinated
by a Board of Governors that is made up mostly of past participants
in the program and local business leaders. They are asking for someone
to represent Foristell on the Board. Being on the board doesn’t
mean that you have to participate in the planning. Larry was elected
by the Chamber to represent us on the Board.
There
was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
The next meeting of the Chamber will be held on June 7, 2006 at
Ruggeri’s Ristorante at 12:00 noon
Respectfully submitted,
Ray Alexander, Secretary
