City
Report:
City Administrator Sandy Stokes reported that since she started
her job on June 12th she has been inspired with the progress that
is taking place in Foristell. T/A Travel Center is going to construct
a Food Court that will include a Pizza Hut, Popeye’s Chicken,
and Taco Bell. Warrenton Oil is going to build a Convenience Store/Filling
Station on the site of the old Phillips Station at the corner of
Highway T and the South Service Road that will include a McDonalds
Restaurant. Sandy said that there are a lot of Developers that are
waiting to jump on the bandwagon. The construction of a new bridge
on Highway T over Peruque Creek is to begin on August 14th and be
completed by November 30th. There will be one lane of traffic open
with an electric signal to regulate traffic during construction.
Duckett Creek is waiting to begin construction of the waste treatment
facility on Shaper Road until a clear title of the property is completed.
Old
Business:
The July Safety Break: Secretary Ray reported that we had a great
turn out of members to help with the project. There were local people
that stopped by to enjoy the food, including one of Foristell’s
Police Officers and City Employees. It gave us visibility in the
neighborhood and afforded an opportunity for our members to get
to know one another. Sandy Stokes said that maybe next year we could
get together with the City and work out a community activity to
get participation from the residents and local merchants. In addition
we can try to get better advertising on Highway 70 to alert travelers
that we are having a Safety Break.
New
Business:
Membership Dues: President Tim announced that Membership forms are
available for those who are interested in joining the Chamber. Dues
are due for those members that have not paid as yet for 2006. St.
Charles League of Chambers: Tim reported on the League. He is the
Vice President of the League, and Larry Shroth is our representative
on the Board of Governors for the St. Charles Vision Program. The
League holds an annual Bar-B-Q that affords members an opportunity
to network with members of other St. Charles County Chambers. Part
of the proceeds from the Bar-B-Q goes to cover the expenses of a
Day at the Capitol. This is a day when members can attend a day
in Jefferson City meeting with Legislators and having breakfast
with the Governor. Secretary Ray passed out flyers about the League
Bar-B-Q. It will be held on Wednesday August 30, 2006 at Dames Park
in O’Fallon from 4:30 till 7:00 p.m. Cost of attending is
$15.00 per person with advanced reservations, and $20.00 on the
day of the event. For reservations call 636-946-0633, or make reservations
on line at www.stcharleschamber.org. The deadline for advanced registration
is August 28th.
Program:
Steve Heitman from Tom Johnson Construction gave a very interesting
and informative presentation on their Cotton Road project. He began
with background information on Johnson Construction. It was started
by Tom Johnson and Roy Yust 20 years ago. They build approximately
150 houses per year and sell around 400 lots to other builders per
year. They have built between 2500 and 3000 houses since they have
been in business. They are currently developing the Midland Business
Park at the Lake St. Louis exit on Highway 70 and several subdivisions
in St. Charles County. They are one of the developers in the Foristell
TED. They will start the infrastructure for their Cotton Road Project
in late summer of 2007. Water District #2 will build a 1,000,000-gallon
water tank and a membrane sewer treatment plant. These will be located
on the north side of highway 70. Water District #2 will tie into
Foristell’s water system. Johnson will start displays as soon
as the infrastructure is in place. There will be 3 tracts that are
being developed. Providence and Providence Manor are being graded
now and will be residential developments. The land is being graded
now for them now. Infrastructure is to start in 30 days. There will
be gas, electric, public water and sewer. The O’Brien tract
will be located at the corner of Cotton Road and the North Service
Road. It will be for commercial development with lots large enough
to accommodate businesses of 3,500 people or more.
There
was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
The
next meeting of the Chamber will be held on September 6, 2006 at
Ruggeri’s Ristorante in Wentzville at 12:00 noon.
