New
Business: City Report: Tim Nash reported that the Board
of Aldermen held an open forum meeting on April 3, 2006 at City
Hall for citizens to bring their concerns about land development.
One of the major concerns was the Kienstra Project relative to sewage,
additional traffic, and density of population, particularly the
projection of construction of many apartment buildings. So far Tom
Johnson is way ahead of the other developers in progress. He has
been grading getting ready for construction. The McBride Project,
Liberty, has been put on hold. Kienstra has not started yet. Keith
Nelson was not present at our meeting. He probably has additional
information on other developments. Hopefully He will have a report
at our May meeting. Ken Orf did not have any thing to add.
Tim
asked if any one had any other business? There was none.
Program: Jim Gremaud who is the Area Engineer for
MoDOT in St. Charles County gave a very interesting and informative
presentation on what improvements MoDOT is currently working on
and what is planned for the future in our area. There are projections
into 2007. It appears that one of the major programs under way is
the resurfacing of roads across the State. There are many of these
improvements going on in St. Charles County. These moneys are funded
by the passage of Amendment #3 in 2004. There is $400 million being
spent statewide. There are numerous 2005 projects still under construction,
in addition to 22 new projects for 2006.
One of these is the installation of traffic signals on the westbound
ramp and outer road at Highway W in Foristell. There are no funds
available for a new overpass at this time and could be as far off
as five years.
There was no other business. Meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m.
The next meeting of the Chamber will be held on May 3, 2006 at
Ruggeri’s Ristorante at 12:00 noon
